Manchester United agree £38m deal for Atalanta's Ederson
Manchester United have finalised a £38m agreement with Atalanta for midfielder Ederson. The 26-year-old Brazilian joins on a five-year contract.
Ederson completed 3,200 minutes across Serie A and European competitions last season. He scored seven goals and provided three assists in Serie A alone.
Manchester United will meet Atalanta’s valuation of £38m after negotiating a reduced fee. The club avoided a higher release clause by concluding talks before the deadline.
Ederson’s arrival addresses Manchester United’s midfield depth concerns. Scott McTominay and Kobbie Mainoo remain central to Erik ten Hag’s plans.
The signing follows Manchester United’s £80m deal for Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise earlier this month. Olise and Ederson are expected to form a new partnership under Ten Hag’s system.
Pre-season training begins next week. Ederson will undergo medicals before finalising his move.
