Manchester City eye Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali
Manchester City have had a second bid rejected for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson and are expected to sign him this summer. Tom Collomosse reported that Anderson is set to join City this month. The club is also linked with Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.
The rejected bid reportedly included £106 million in base fees plus £15 million in add‑ons, totalling £121 million with add‑ons. Nottingham Forest want guaranteed money and aim to make Anderson the most expensive Premier League midfielder.
Fabrizio Romano discussed City’s interest in Tonali on his YouTube channel and also referenced the Anderson bid. He noted that Arsenal and other English clubs are monitoring Tonali.

If Anderson joins, City’s midfield could feature Rodri, Mateo Kovacic, Nico Gonzalez, Tijjani Reijnders, Nico O’Reilly, Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden alongside the new signing. The potential arrival would alter the balance of the squad. Tonali can operate as a number six or eight, delivering cross‑field passes and quick one‑ and two‑touch play. His ball‑carrying and press‑resistance suit Newcastle’s style under Eddie Howe, but may clash with the possession‑heavy approach of Pep Guardiola’s City, which Enzo Maresca is expected to continue.Manchester City overweegt vertrek na afwijzing Forest bod van £121 m voor Anderson
Lee Ryder reported that Newcastle will demand £100 million for Tonali, raising questions about whether City would spend up to £230 million on two midfielders. A sale of Nico Gonzalez or Tijjani Reijnders could ease the financial equation. Tonali remains a named target, yet his fit and price leave uncertainty, prompting City to consider alternative midfield options. Manchester United are also active in the midfield market.
