Marcos Paulo extends contract with Académica for 2026/27

Brazilian midfielder Marcos Paulo has signed a new contract with Académica, extending his stay for the 2026/2027 season. The 37‑year‑old featured in 29 matches and scored six goals in the campaign that secured Académica’s return to the LP 2 Meu Super, the second tier of national football. Paulo’s third spell with the club began last summer after previous periods from 2012 to 2015 and from 2019 to 2020. The club’s statement praised his ambition, consistency and competitive spirit as assets for the team’s growth. He joins Leandro Silva, António Barbosa and sporting director David Caiado as confirmed renewals for the upcoming season.
