Mourinho urges Real Madrid to chase Silva
Jose Mourinho has asked Real Madrid to move for Bernardo Silva, a soon‑to‑be free agent, to out‑maneuver Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Silva is 31 and currently with Manchester City, offering the experience Mourinho says the squad lacks.
Mourinho’s appointment hinges on Florentino Perez winning the club’s presidential election, after which he will replace the outgoing manager. Mourinho already approved the confirmed signings of Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries.
The Portuguese also has West Ham United midfielder Matheus Fernandes on his radar. Silva’s potential deal would be cost‑free, a point that previously led Real Madrid to reject the offer after agent Jorge Mendes presented it.
Silva will decide after his involvement in the 2026 World Cup ends, giving Real Madrid time to negotiate. Adding Silva would give the club a versatile option in midfield and on the right side of attack. Image credit: Lewis Storey.
