Newcastle sign 20-year-old keeper Ewen Jaouen
Newcastle have secured 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen. Goalkeeping analyst Matt Pyzdrowski described him on BBC Radio Newcastle.
Pyzdrowski noted Jaouen’s offensive positioning, especially on crossing situations, and his willingness to stay on the front foot. He praised Jaouen’s shot‑stopping and reach, while saying his footwork needs improvement due to his 6‑ft‑6‑in height.
The analyst compared Jaouen’s long‑ball distribution to Ederson’s style at Man City, but said his short‑play passing is less refined. He also likened Jaouen’s presence to Nick Pope’s, adding that Jaouen is “good with his feet.”
Jaouen had been linked with Chelsea and Real Madrid before the move was confirmed on Wednesday. Pyzdrowski called him a project rather than a ready‑made Premier League number one, emphasizing that Newcastle’s scouting department will have conducted extensive research.
