Gordon Strachan says Rashford should leave Manchester United
Gordon Strachan, former Scotland midfielder, said Marcus Rashford should leave Manchester United. He made the comment when asked by Andy's Bet Club.
Rashford is currently on loan at FC Barcelona, where he has played 48 matches, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists. Most of his appearances have been as a substitute.
The loan agreement, arranged in summer 2025, included a future transfer fee of €30 million for Barcelona. Rashford's contract with Manchester United runs until 2028.
His performances in Spain have revived his reputation after a period of decline in England. England national team manager Thomas Tuchel has kept him in his regular plans.
Manchester United, the club where Rashford emerged from the academy, continues to debate his role at Old Trafford. Strachan’s verdict adds weight to the discussion.
The 28‑year‑old forward faces a decision on whether to extend his stay in Barcelona or return to United. His next steps will be decided before the summer transfer window closes.
If Rashford stays at Barcelona, the €30 million clause could be triggered, potentially reshaping his career path. If he returns, United will need to decide on his future role.
