Martín Payero Returns to Udinese, Real Sociedad Await Decision
Argentine midfielder Martín Payero has returned to Udinese after his contract expired without renewal. Real Sociedad have already signaled interest in the €5 million player.
Payero's contract with Udinese runs until 2027 and carries a €5 million release clause. The lack of renewal leaves him available for a move this summer.
Greek side PAOK are also monitoring the midfielder. Both clubs are competing for his signature.
The decision will determine whether Payero joins Real Sociedad in Donostia or moves to Greece. His next destination hinges on negotiations in the upcoming transfer window.
Udinese have not announced a renewal attempt. The club may retain a sell‑on clause if the transfer proceeds.
The summer market will reveal which option Payero selects. All three parties are expected to finalize terms before the season starts.
