Portugal U20 beats Finland 1-0 in Aveiro
Portugal's under‑20 national team secured a 1‑0 win over Finland on Saturday in the preparation tournament held in Aveiro. The match was played at Estádio Dr. Carlos Osório and the winning goal came in the 77th minute.
Coach Marisa Gomes had guided the side to a second consecutive victory after a win over South Korea in the opening round. The Portuguese youngsters sought to dominate possession but struggled to break down a defensively organised Finnish side for most of the game.
Luana Bessa restored the lead for Portugal by scoring the decisive goal, ensuring three points. After the strike, the team managed the narrow advantage with composure until the final whistle.
The win kept Portugal unbeaten in the tournament and reinforced positive momentum ahead of the U20 World Cup. The performance highlighted the squad's growing offensive ambition under Gomes.
Portugal's next fixture comes on Tuesday against Brazil, featuring Thais Lima and Clarinha, in Oliveira de Azeméis. The match will be the final game of the preparation tournament.
