Antonio Rüdiger Criticizes Real Madrid’s Trophy Drought
Antonio Rüdiger said he is concentrating on Germany’s World Cup campaign. In a Guardian interview he turned to Real Madrid’s recent lack of major trophies. He noted the club failed to win any silverware last season.
Rüdiger will join the German squad for the upcoming tournament in Qatar. The defender has been training with the national team ahead of the June kickoff.
He recalled that Real Madrid missed out on major titles in the past two campaigns. The Spanish giants captured no league crown or European trophy in that span.
Rüdiger highlighted the 2022‑23 season as particularly barren, with the club ending without a single trophy. The lack of success contrasts with its historic dominance.
The defender suggested the club must rebuild to regain its former stature. He did not elaborate on specific measures.
Germany’s preparation continues with a friendly against France next week. Rüdiger will aim to translate his focus into a strong World Cup performance.
