Riquelme Names Raúl González Blanco as Future Sporting Director
Enrique Riquelme announced on 'El Larguero' that Raúl González Blanco will become Real Madrid's sporting director if Riquelme is elected president on Sunday. The announcement was made last night.
The presidential vote is scheduled for Sunday at the club's headquarters. Riquelme presented his candidate during the Cadena SER programme.
Raúl González Blanco is regarded as one of Real Madrid's most significant players. He helped the club win multiple titles during his playing career.
Until June, González Blanco oversaw Real Madrid's reserve side. His tenure included managing the Castilla squad.
González Blanco's experience includes both senior and reserve team responsibilities. The candidate was named as part of Riquelme's electoral platform.
The election outcome will be known after Sunday's ballot. A victory for Riquelme would see González Blanco assume the sporting director role.
