Scotland cancel Norway friendly due to injuries
Scotland have called off the behind‑closed‑doors friendly with Norway scheduled for Monday because of injuries, the Norwegian FA said.
The match was to be played at Scotland’s Charlotte training base, a plan announced months ago by Norway manager Stale Solbakken. Solbakken had reconfirmed the arrangement in the lead‑up to the tournament.
Norwegian FA media manager Morten Morisbak Skjonsberg explained that Scotland withdrew and that Norway will instead train in Greensboro.
Solbakken added that the cancellation forces him to make more changes for the upcoming Morocco game, where he intended to give minutes to players not featuring against Morocco.
Scotland manager Steve Clarke confirmed there are no new injury concerns after the 4‑0 win over Bolivia, noting that only five squad members missed any minutes and goalkeeper Angus Gunn completed the full match. Billy Gilmour’s injury against Curaçao on May 30 was the only setback, and he was replaced by Tyler Fletcher, son of Darren.
Scotland open their World Cup campaign against Haiti on June 14, then face Morocco on June 19 and Brazil on June 24 in the 2026 World Cup.
