Scunthorpe United secure Kyle Hurst on permanent deal

Scunthorpe United have completed the permanent signing of 24‑year‑old attacker Kyle Hurst, who joined the Iron on loan in January and featured in five National League matches before an injury ruled him out for the rest of the season. Hurst arrives after his contract with League One side Doncaster Rovers expired.

Across his senior career, Hurst has accumulated 20 goals and nine assists in 157 appearances. The forward's production reflects his experience in lower‑league football. His record underscores a steady contribution despite limited top‑flight exposure.

During a four‑year tenure at Doncaster Rovers, Hurst netted 16 goals in 108 matches across all competitions. The period included regular league action in League One. His contract with the club concluded this summer.

In the first half of the 2025‑26 season, Hurst spent six months on loan at Gateshead. He added four goals in 31 appearances for the National League side. The spell offered him regular minutes before returning to his parent club.

Hurst's initial stint with Scunthorpe United began in January, where he featured in five National League games. An injury sustained thereafter sidelined him for the remainder of the campaign. The permanent deal follows his recovery and the expiry of his Doncaster contract.
