Spalletti Stays at Juventus Amid Transfer Setbacks
Luciano Spalletti has confirmed he will remain at Juventus despite a turbulent start to the summer transfer window. He declined the opportunity to resign after his post‑season meeting with John Elkann and Damien Comolli.
Spalletti has already absorbed several setbacks, including Alisson Becker’s unavailability, the collapse of the Bernardo Silva pursuit, and the unresolved contract situation of Dusan Vlahovic. These issues have not altered his focus on building the squad for next season.
The coach has identified a primary and backup option for each key position: Emiliano Martinez and Guglielmo Vicario for goalkeeper; Kim Min-jae or Joel Ordonez in defence; Leon Goretzka in midfield despite wage complications; Brahim Diaz as attacking midfielder; and Sorloth and Kolo Muani up front. Spalletti personally called Sorloth to push for his signature. He acknowledges that without Champions League football not every target will be achievable.
Martinez celebrated Aston Villa’s Premier League victory over Tottenham Hotspur on 19 October 2025. Spalletti says he will work with whatever Juventus can deliver under the current circumstances.
