FC St. Pauli sack coach Alexander Blessin after relegation
FC St. Pauli terminated Alexander Blessin's contract as head coach on May 12, 2025, one day after the club's Bundesliga relegation was confirmed.
Blessin, appointed in June 2023, leaves after 24 months in charge with 17 months remaining on his contract.
The club's relegation was sealed with a 2-1 home defeat against VfL Wolfsburg on May 11, 2025, confirming their drop to the 2. Bundesliga after three seasons in the top flight.
A club statement confirmed the decision without further elaboration, stating only that the path forward requires a new sporting direction.
