Domenico Tedesco leaves Fenerbahçe for Bologna FC 1909
Domenico Tedesco was appointed head coach of Bologna FC 1909 on Tuesday. The 40-year-old German replaces previous incumbent Thiago Motta.
Tedesco’s move follows his exit from Fenerbahçe after 44 matches in charge. His departure came following a 3-0 loss to Galatasaray. He had earlier succeeded José Mourinho at Fenerbahçe.
Bologna FC 1909 announced Tedesco’s arrival with a contract valid until 2028. The deal includes a clause allowing a one-season extension.
Before Fenerbahçe, Tedesco managed Belgium, RB Leipzig, Spartak Moskva, Schalke 04 and Erzgebirge Aue. His tenure at RB Leipzig ended after eight games in the 2022/23 season.
Tedesco’s coaching record includes a Turkish Super Cup and two German Cups. He completed his final German Cup match with RB Leipzig in a season shortened by his early departure.
The German coach will be making his first career move to Italy.
