Sunderland's Katie Kitching signs two-year contract extension
Sunderland midfielder Katie Kitching has signed a new two-year contract with the club. The 27-year-old New Zealand international joined Sunderland from London City Lionesses in summer 2023. She has made 77 appearances for the Wearsiders in all competitions, scoring 17 goals. The Lady Black Cats announced the news via their official club website.
Kitching has established herself as a key player in Sunderland’s midfield. The club highlighted her real quality and influence since her arrival. With Sunderland under new Bay Collective majority ownership, her role becomes even more significant.
After signing the contract, Kitching said: “I’m delighted to sign a new contract with Sunderland. I’ve loved my time here so far, and this is such an exciting time to be part of the Club. I can’t wait for the season to get started.”
The extension means Kitching is one of 10 senior players contracted for next season. Sunderland are still negotiating with Jess Brown and Eleanor Dale. Five academy players have also signed professional terms and will aim for senior honours by 2026/2027.
