Tottenham Hotspur sign Scotland forward Kirsty Hanson from Aston Villa
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Scotland forward Kirsty Hanson from Aston Villa on a long‑term deal. The 28‑year‑old arrives after a four‑year spell at Villa, where she was the club’s top scorer with 12 goals in the Barclays Women’s Super League last season.
Hanson initially joined Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United before the arrangement was made permanent. During her time at Villa Park she impressed, culminating in the top‑scorer accolade. The move was confirmed by a press release from Tottenham Hotspur and reported by WSL Full‑Time this morning.
On the international stage, Hanson has earned 48 caps for Scotland. She has contributed six goals for the Scottish national side, known as the Tartan Army.
Speaking after the announcement, Hanson said, “I’m absolutely delighted, it’s an exciting time to be a part of this Club.” She added that she looks forward to working with Martin Ho, the club staff and players as they pursue new challenges. She also said she wants to be better every single day.
Hanson becomes Tottenham Hotspur’s third summer signing, following the arrivals of Shekiera Martinez and Caitlin Dijkstra. The club believes the majority of its transfer business is now complete ahead of the close season.
