Tyson Fury to face Nelson Hysa in August warm-up
Tyson Fury will meet Nelson Hysa in a warm-up bout scheduled for August 1. The fight is set to appear on the undercard of Pierce O'Leary versus Mark Chamberlain in Dublin.
Fury is preparing for a clash with Anthony Joshua in the final quarter of 2026. Joshua is slated to face Kristian Prenga on July 25, while Fury defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov in April and is unlikely to take a higher-ranked opponent next.
Nelson Hysa, a 41-year-old Albanian, remains unbeaten in 24 professional fights. He boasts a 91 % knockout ratio against European-level opposition, turned professional at 37 in 2022, and is ranked No.5 by the WBA and No.11 by the WBO.
Negotiations are still pending, but Hysa is the leading candidate after signing with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions. He has regularly sparred with Fury, a Morecambe native, providing a stern test ahead of the champion’s next bout.
Hysa’s recent activity includes a victory over Patrick Korte on the undercard of Fabio Wardley versus Justin Huni last June. He has previously been linked with Moses Itauma and Agit Kabayel but has not secured a major fight.
Fury will enter the August contest as the overwhelming favourite, using the bout to stay active before his anticipated showdown with Joshua.
