Wolfsburg to sell stars for €100m to fund rebuild
VfL Wolfsburg aims to generate €100m by selling nearly half its squad value following relegation from the Bundesliga.
The club’s strategy targets top performers to stabilize finances after dropping to the 2. Bundesliga. Market valuations place Wolfsburg’s current squad at around €210m, making the €100m target feasible.
Forward Sander Berge leads the potential sales list, with defender Kilian Fischer also in demand. Midfielder Maximilian Arnold remains central to Wolfsburg’s rebuild plans.
Negotiations have intensified with multiple European clubs expressing interest. A first tranche of sales could be completed before the summer transfer window.
Wolfsburg’s sporting director Thomas Schaub confirmed the club’s aggressive financial restructuring. The move follows the departure of manager Niko Kovač last month.
The club will prioritize retaining young talents like Daniel Pella and Aster Vranckx while recouping funds through exits.
