VfL Wolfsburg sign Patrick Wimmer from Eintracht Frankfurt
VfL Wolfsburg have completed the signing of Austrian midfielder Patrick Wimmer from Eintracht Frankfurt. The transfer was finalized on May 31, 2026.
Wimmer, 24, joins Wolfsburg on a five-year contract. The deal includes an initial transfer fee reported by German media as €12 million, with potential add-ons.
The midfielder arrives after making 87 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt across all competitions. Frankfurt received multiple bids during the winter transfer window but held firm until May.
Wolfsburg’s sporting director Michael Zorc confirmed the club’s long-term interest in Wimmer. The player underwent medical tests in Frankfurt before finalizing his move to Lower Saxony.
Wimmer’s arrival strengthens Wolfsburg’s midfield ahead of the 2026-27 Bundesliga season. He will reunite with head coach Niko Kovač, who previously coached him at Frankfurt.
The Austrian international, capped 12 times by his country, becomes Wolfsburg’s third summer signing after goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen and defender Maxence Lacroix.
