Warren Zaire Emery admits frustration over Champions League bench
Warren Zaire Emery said he felt frustrated after being omitted from Paris Saint-Germain’s starting XI for the Champions League final. He explained that the decision was the coach’s formula and that he cannot hold it against him.
Emery had been first choice throughout the season and logged more minutes for Paris Saint-Germain than any other player across all competitions. Yet he was named on the bench for the final. He added that seeing the team win allowed him to be happy despite the earlier disappointment.
Paris Saint-Germain rested many first‑team players during the league campaign, which led to unusual statistics such as Bradley Barcola becoming the club’s top league scorer with 11 goals. Ousmane Dembele left his boyhood club to join Paris Saint-Germain and does not regret the move. Dembele now seeks a backup up front, and the club could look to Barcelona for that option.
