Arsenal prioritise Morgan Rogers, says Fabrizio Romano
Arsenal are reported to be targeting Aston Villa’s 23‑year‑old playmaker Morgan Rogers, with journalist Fabrizio Romano stating the Gunners will “go all in” for the midfielder whose 14 goals and 12 assists in 55 matches last season have put him among the Premier League’s top creators.
Fabrizio Romano said Arsenal “should not forget about [Bradley] Barcola, who is also appreciated by Arsenal, but the priority for Arsenal remains Morgan Rogers.” He added that “Barcola is still on the short list, but nothing in it,” underscoring the focus on Rogers.
Rogers, 23, recorded 14 goals and 12 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions for Aston Villa last season. His contract with Villa Park runs until the summer of 2031, meaning a free transfer is unlikely before then.
The midfielder is praised for delivering killer passes in the final third and for his dribbling ability. He can also strike the ball with power from distance and operate as a winger on either flank when required.
With several seasons of Premier League experience, Rogers is expected to adapt quickly to life at Arsenal. Manager Mikel Arteta could use his versatility to add quality to the Gunners’ frontline and potentially secure a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium.
Rogers featured for England in an international friendly against Costa Rica at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, on 10 June 2026. The match was captured in a photograph by Rich Storry for Getty Images.
If Arsenal complete the deal this summer, Rogers would join a squad aiming to strengthen its creative options. The club’s pursuit suggests a strategic move ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
