Arsenal resume talks for Tonali as United drop interest
Arsenal Football Club have resumed talks for Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Manchester United directors have cooled their interest, citing the overall cost as too high.
Tonali, an Italy international, is expected to leave Newcastle United in the summer. Newcastle have reportedly set his asking price at €115 million, per Italian sources.
Manchester City still list Tonali as an option, but their priority remains Elliot Anderson. United have already secured Atalanta midfielder Ederson for €45 million including add‑ons.
Tonali celebrated scoring Italy's first goal in the FIFA World Cup 2026 European Qualifiers KO play‑offs, sharing the moment with teammates Mateo Retegui and Moise Kean. A photo by Marco Luzzani captured the celebration. He also featured for Newcastle United in a Premier League match against Everton on 28 February 2026.
Arsenal, fresh Premier League champions, continue to explore Tonali's availability, while United's reduced appetite leaves the midfielder's future uncertain.
