Atletico Madrid set Julian Alvarez release clause at €490m
Atletico Madrid have set Julian Alvarez’s release clause at €490 million, according to journalist Ruben Uria. Uria states Atletico’s stance on Alvarez is absolute and non-negotiable.
Uria disputes widely reported figures suggesting Alvarez’s release clause was between €120 million and €150 million. He argues Real Madrid’s €150 million bid proves the clause is higher. Uria confirms no reductions, no Spanish-club exceptions, and no timing-based waivers apply.
The relationship between Atletico president Miguel Angel Gil Marin and Florentino Perez is described as nonexistent. Atletico immediately shut down Real Madrid’s enquiry about Alvarez. Real Madrid’s public statement, Uria suggests, was to show Florentino had met his promise to bid €150 million for a top player.
Atletico are not selling Alvarez for any figure below €490 million. Barcelona cannot meet this clause, with reports indicating their best offer is €120 million at most.
