Barcelona negotiate Jan Virgili return amid squad overhaul
Barcelona are in talks with Jan Virgili’s representatives about a possible return to the club. The 19‑year‑old left Barcelona for Real Mallorca last summer.
Virgili now carries a €12 million release clause after Mallorca’s relegation to the second division. Barcelona could trigger a €7.2 million deal while retaining 40 percent of his economic rights.
In his debut top‑flight season, Virgili featured in 31 league matches, scoring two goals and providing six assists. He averaged 1.6 successful dribbles per game, outpacing Raphinha and Rodrygo, and created seven big chances, matching Vinícius Júnior.
Barcelona have already added Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and already have Raphinha on the left wing. The club are also monitoring Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, though a first offer was rejected.
With Gordon and Raphinha securing the left side, Barcelona may prioritize signing a striker to replace Robert Lewandowski and reinforce defensive options rather than accelerating Virgili’s return. Virgili remains on the radar of several clubs despite limited starts after Martin Demichelis took charge in February.
