Barcelona persist with Julian Alvarez pursuit despite hurdles

Barcelona remain committed to signing Julian Alvarez despite complications and a €150 million Real Madrid bid. Negotiations are still ongoing as the transfer window approaches its deadline. Barcelona consider Alvarez the ideal forward for the post‑Robert Lewandowski phase and believe he wants to wear the Blaugrana shirt. The club has been working behind the scenes to bolster its attack. Photo by Eric Alonso. Deco and Flick both view the Argentine as the perfect striker because of his age, versatility and proven ability at the highest level. Their assessments reinforce Alvarez’s status as Barcelona’s priority target. The main obstacle is Atletico Madrid’s reluctance to lose one of its key players, with little willingness to facilitate a move to a direct rival. The Real Madrid €150 million offer has further complicated talks. Club executives remain calm, trusting that Alvarez’s desire to join Barcelona will eventually decide the outcome. With time left before the window closes and the World Cup in between, patience is the chosen strategy. Photo by Justin Setterfield.
