Barcelona target Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko
Barcelona are keen to sign Benjamin Sesko this summer as they search for a new centre‑forward to replace Robert Lewandowski, who will depart at the end of his contract this month. The club have identified Julian Alvaraz as their primary target, but a deal appears difficult to secure.
Atletico Madrid have turned down a £129 million offer from Real Madrid and are holding out for a higher fee, complicating Barcelona's pursuit of Alvaraz.
If the Argentine forward remains out of reach, Barcelona have shortlisted United's Sesko, alongside Serhou Guirassy and Karl Etta Eyong, as alternative options.
Adrian Bielsa joins Real Madrid from Atletico Madrid academy
Benjamin Sesko joined Manchester United last summer from RB Leipzig in a package worth up to £74 million. The Slovenian endured a difficult start in the Premier League but staged a revival during the second half of the season. Manchester United are satisfied with Sesko’s progress and are unlikely to entertain any offers for him, while they look to sign a quality backup for the 23‑year‑old after Joshua Zirkzee failed to meet expectations. Sesko is described as an elite number nine with physical prowess, explosive pace, work‑rate and aerial dominance, though he still needs to improve decision‑making in the final third.
