Bernardo Silva to join Real Madrid on two-year deal

Bernardo Silva will sign for Real Madrid on a two-year contract this summer after leaving Manchester City as a free agent. The move marks his first transfer since departing the English club. Silva's arrival coincides with Jose Mourinho's second spell at the Bernabeu. Jose Mourinho seeks Silva's experience to improve standards after a trophyless season at Real Madrid. Mourinho also wants to address internal friction highlighted by a clash between Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde that resulted in Valverde receiving hospital treatment. Silva spent nine seasons at Manchester City, winning six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy. He was praised for his intelligence, discipline and ability to execute Pep Guardiola's tactical ideas. Silva confirmed that Barcelona was among his options before deciding. He said he wants to join a club where he feels truly wanted. Real Madrid reportedly offered him a senior role in the dressing room. Silva described his departure from Manchester City as emotional, saying his feelings for the club are very strong. He pledged to support Manchester City for the rest of his life and thanked the fans for their support. Silva recalled arriving from Portugal as a Benfica fan before his Manchester City career.
