Birmingham City sign Girona midfielder Jhon Solis

Birmingham City have signed midfielder Jhon Solis from Spanish side Girona on a four-year contract, fee undisclosed and pending clearance. The 21‑year‑old will officially join the Blues on 1 July.

Solis arrived on loan in January and made 17 Championship appearances for Birmingham City. He totaled 18 appearances in all competitions, scoring once. Birmingham finished 10th in the Championship, their highest league finish in a decade.

The club exercised a clause in the loan agreement to secure Solis permanently, making him Chris Davies' first signing of the summer transfer window. The deal was completed subject to clearance.

Solis began his career with Atlético Nacional in Colombia, where he helped the side win domestic honours in successive seasons. He moved to La Liga side Girona in September 2023 and recorded 61 appearances for the Spanish club. His Girona tally includes five UEFA Champions League matches against Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Arsenal.
