Bournemouth eye Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi after Senesi exit
AFC Bournemouth have been linked with a move for Bologna FC 1909 centre‑back Jhon Lucumi after Marcos Senesi joined Tottenham Hotspur. The Cherries are reportedly scouting the Colombian international as a replacement for the departing defender.
Senesi left Bournemouth after four seasons, signing for Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer that was confirmed on Wednesday. He had previously been linked with Juventus earlier in the season.
According to Nicolo Schira, Bournemouth are interested in securing Lucumi, who will turn 28 later this month. Lucumi’s contract includes a €28 million release clause that is set to expire on 10 July. Sunderland’s bid, intended to bring Lucumi to the Premier League, initially offered €25 million and later €28 million plus a 10 percent sell‑on clause, but the clause expired before a deal was reached.
Lucumi has made 123 Serie A appearances for Bologna since arriving from Genk in 2022, 29 of which came in the most recent campaign. He featured in a UEFA Europa League 2025/26 Round of 16 first‑leg match on 12 March 2026, where Robinio Vaz of AS Roma was challenged by Lucumi at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
