Brighton eye free transfer for former midfielder Yves Bissouma

Yves Bissouma, the Mali international midfielder, has become a free agent after leaving Tottenham Hotspur. Brighton and Coventry City are among the clubs evaluating a potential move for him. During his first spell at the Amex Stadium, Bissouma established himself as one of the Premier League’s most effective midfielders. He combined defensive aggression with technical quality and ball‑carrying ability. At Tottenham Hotspur, Bissouma failed to become a key figure in Roberto De Zerbi’s plans. The club chose not to extend his contract, allowing him to enter the market as a free agent. Brighton have not yet held formal talks with Bissouma, but view his availability as an opportunity to add experience without a transfer fee. The relationship between Bissouma and Brighton has never deteriorated. Coventry City, managed by Frank Lampard, are also monitoring the situation. Lampard believes Bissouma could bring leadership, composure and top‑flight know‑how to the promoted side. The midfielder’s future remains unresolved, and his free‑agent status has already attracted Premier League interest. Clubs seeking midfield reinforcement see his experience as valuable. Brighton have built a younger, more progressive squad since his departure, prompting some supporters to question whether the returning player matches his previous form. A free transfer reduces risk and provides experienced depth.
