Bristol City target Harry Clarke as Skubala eyes right‑back
Bristol City have identified Ipswich Town defender Harry Clarke as a transfer target, with new manager Michael Skubala seeking to add a right‑back to the squad at Ashton Gate. The club also face uncertainty over Scotland international Ross McCrorie, who has twelve months left on his contract and has not yet agreed a new deal.
Bristol City previously navigated a similar situation with Zak Vyner and Anis Mehmeti last summer. The club accepted cut‑price fees for both players in the winter window, sending Vyner to Wrexham AFC and Mehmeti to Ipswich Town.
Harry Clarke, 25, spent the second half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, making 19 appearances. He had also been on loan at Sheffield United during the 2024‑25 season.
Clarke joined Ipswich Town from Arsenal in January 2023. Since then he has featured 67 times for the Tractor Boys, scoring once.
He made 39 appearances across all competitions as Ipswich secured promotion to the Premier League in the 2023‑24 season. Clarke also contributed to the club’s ascent from League One the season before.
The club, nicknamed the Robins, aim to reinforce the defensive line ahead of the new season. Clarke’s experience in both the Championship and Premier League aligns with Skubala’s recruitment objectives.
