Gillingham seeks six more signings, says Richard Dobson
Gillingham technical director Richard Dobson announced the club is targeting six additional signings before the transfer window closes. The League Two side has already added three players this season.
Gillingham released 14 players at the end of their contracts. Sam Vokes retired during the same period. The departures left the squad with 25 professionals.
The club's retained list, issued in early May, named 19 contracted players for the 2026-27 season. Three academy graduates were offered professional contracts.
Cambridge United midfielder James Brophy joined Gillingham. Brighton & Hove Albion academy midfielder Zane Albarus also arrived. Oxford United striker Will Goodwin completed the trio of new signings.
Dobson said loan players from higher divisions have often been the division's best performers. He noted agents are now negotiating multiple clubs to secure deals. He added the club will prioritize players motivated by the project and aim to compete at the top of League Two.
