Hermann Malonga signs five-year deal with Manchester City
Hermann Malonga, the Paris Saint-Germain centre-back, will join Manchester City on a five-year contract. The move follows his decisive rejection of a renewal package in France.
The 18-year-old reached an agreement over the terms of his deal at the Etihad Stadium, as reported by Le Parisien’s Benjamin Quarez. City have scouted him several times and view him as a player with very high potential. The club’s recruitment tapped into the Parc des Princes academy infrastructure to secure the defender.
Malonga is expected to be integrated into Manchester City’s squad initially, with a possible loan later to aid his development. He could join senior pre‑season sessions at the City Football Academy in July and may be considered for the club’s Asian tour.
Manchester City are also finalising a long‑term extension for Croatian international Josko Gvardiol until 2031. The defensive restructuring follows the exit of Jahmai Simpson‑Pusey and expected loans for Stephen Mfuni and Max Alleyne. The 2026/27 Premier League campaign is set to begin on Saturday, 22 August 2026.
