Jan Paul van Hecke's €60m move shatters NAC Breda transfer record

Jan Paul van Hecke is set to join Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth around €60 million, sending a €4‑4.5 million fee to NAC Breda and breaking the Dutch club’s transfer record. The 26‑year‑old defender leaves Brighton & Hove Albion, while the move also yields about €1.2 million for JVOZ and €300 000 each for SC Heerenveen and VV Goes. The €60 million figure was reported by The Athletic, by agent Fabrizio Romano and by VI. According to those sources, NAC Breda will receive between €4 million and €4.5 million. NAC Breda’s previous record sale was Nemanja Gudelj, who left for AZ in 2013 for €3 million. That fee stood as the club’s high watermark until Van Hecke’s move. Van Hecke originally left NAC for Brighton & Hove Albion in 2020, generating €2.5 million for the Dutch side. A 7.5 percent solidarity and resale clause now lifts the total earnings to roughly €7 million. SC Heerenveen is set to receive €300 000 from the deal. VV Goes also benefits with an identical €300 000 payment. JVOZ, the amateur club where Van Hecke began, is estimated to collect about €1.2 million. The sum represents a significant windfall for the Zeeland youth side. The move cements Van Hecke’s status as the most lucrative sale in NAC Breda’s history. The record will be entered in the books at the Rat Verlegh Stadion.
