Jérémy Doku set to sign Manchester City contract until 2031 with wage boost

Jérémy Doku will extend his stay at Manchester City until 30 June 2031, securing a reported €3 million annual salary. The Belgian winger has been a key figure under Pep Guardiola and incoming coach Enzo Maresca, with 131 appearances, 22 goals and 34 assists in three seasons at the Etihad Stadium. Doku joined Manchester City in August 2023 from Stade Rennais for a reported €60 million transfer fee, five years after Sporting d'Anderlecht paid €26 million to sign him from Anderlecht. His first season in England produced 47 official matches, nearly 3,000 minutes and eight goals with 14 assists. The 24-year-old has improved his efficiency in the final third while maintaining his dribbling threat, adding consistency in match fitness after previous injury concerns. His contract had been set to expire in 2028 before the proposed new deal was agreed. Manchester City are prioritising a long-term solution for Doku, who is valued at €75 million on Transfermarkt. The Belgian international, with 44 caps and seven goals, has drawn interest from multiple clubs but will remain in Manchester. A reported €250,000 monthly wage represents a threefold increase on his Rennes earnings. Doku’s contract talks come as City aim to defend their European crown following Guardiola’s departure. Speaking recently, Doku stated: "The Ballon d'Or level? It’s an opinion, but I want to make it a fact," though he underperformed in a recent international match due to respiratory issues linked to a recent infection. Doku, set to become a first-time father, may miss a World Cup match because of the pregnancy. He lives in Manchester with his English partner Shireen, creating a familiar environment as he considers his future. The new contract is expected to be announced after the World Cup, with Doku positioned as a leading figure in City’s rebuild under Maresca.
