Jose Mourinho open to Real Madrid signing target man striker
Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho has indicated openness to signing a target man striker, despite the club already completing four deals this summer. Mourinho has requested further additions, including a centre-back, midfielder, and winger, with Nico Schlotterbeck, Enzo Fernandez, and Michael Olise among targets. The Portuguese coach has also expressed interest in a number nine profile similar to Joselu Mato, though this is not currently a priority.
Mourinho communicated his preference to the club’s sporting department, as the La Fabrica graduate has been retained for now. Plans could shift in the coming weeks, potentially allowing Garcia to depart.
Joselu scored 18 goals across all competitions for Real Madrid last season, including a brace against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final. His performances helped Los Blancos secure a 15th Champions League title. Mourinho’s potential signing would aim to replicate Joselu’s impact.

Gonzalo Garcia, a 22-year-old La Fabrica graduate, has impressed since breaking through during last summer’s Club World Cup. His form has kept him in the squad, but a move could still materialise if Mourinho opts for a different profile alongside Kylian Mbappe and Endrick Felipe. The club’s transfer activity has already reached record levels with four completed deals before the summer window opened. Mourinho’s demands for additional signings reflect his ambition to strengthen the squad further.
