Josko Gvardiol to sign Manchester City deal until 2032
Josko Gvardiol is expected to sign a new Manchester City contract that runs until at least 2032, ahead of the new season, according to a Croatian outlet. The deal would keep the 24‑year‑old defender at the Etihad Stadium and block a reported move to Real Madrid. The renewal comes after Pep Guardiola left the Etihad Stadium last month.
The Croatian source said the club has offered Gvardiol improved salary terms as part of the long‑term agreement. Fabrizio Romano previously reported City’s optimism about receiving Gvardiol’s personal approval on the improved terms, and Sam Lee noted that the defender feels settled in Manchester.
Director of football Hugo Viana has listed the renewal as his top defensive priority this summer. Enzo Maresca, the incoming manager, is expected to build his back line around Gvardiol, while Ruben Dias is also considering his future and Marc Guehi has established himself since his January arrival.
Real Madrid and Barcelona retain contingent interest should talks collapse, but the latest update suggests that scenario is increasingly unlikely. Florian Plettenberg had earlier indicated that City’s offer ran to 2031; the new information extends the timeline to 2032. Gvardiol told Croatian media he is happy at City and will assess his future after the World Cup.
