Liverpool eye Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola is linked with a move for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott. The speculation follows Iraola's recent appointment at the club. Scott has attracted attention across the Premier League for his performances.
Scott joined Bournemouth in 2023 and has made 80 Premier League appearances. He earned his first England call‑up last year and was close to the final World Cup squad. His contract runs to 2028, and the club has offered him a new deal.
TalkSPORT chief football correspondent Alex Crook said Scott would be a good fit for Liverpool's midfield. Crook noted that Liverpool's title defence suffered from a midfield that did not match the previous season, citing Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch as under‑performing. He added that before Arne Slot’s first season the club was looking for a number six, a role later filled by Gravenberch.
Scott’s prior work under Iraola at Bournemouth adds a personal link to the potential transfer. Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director, signed Scott for Bournemouth, and Thomas Tuchel is reported to rate him highly. The relationship between Iraola and Scott could make a move sensible for both parties.
Liverpool’s 2023 midfield recruitment included Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo. If Iraola believes Scott can provide energy, versatility and technical quality, the club may explore a substantial offer. Bournemouth, however, intend to keep the player and will likely require a significant bid.
