Liverpool eye Real Madrid's Arda Guler
Liverpool are targeting Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler, reportedly valued at £100m. New manager Andoni Iraola wants a creative spark in midfield as the club rebuilds. Liverpool will compete with Arsenal for the player.
Arda Guler, 21, joined Real Madrid in 2023 from Fenerbahce. He is under contract until 2029 and last season recorded six goals and 13 assists in the Champions League and La Liga. He has been deployed on both wings, attacking midfield and centre‑midfield for Real Madrid.
Chelsea, whose incoming head coach Xabi Alonso previously worked with Guler in Madrid, have placed him at the top of their transfer list and are prepared to spend £100m despite Real Madrid’s not‑for‑sale stance. Arsenal are also closely monitoring the situation, seeking to boost midfield depth.
Liverpool’s transfer window is already shaped by Mohamed Salah’s contract ending on 30 June and Federico Chiesa’s likely move back to Serie A. Uncertainty remains over Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha after Bayern Munich’s recent bid. The club’s recruitment under Andoni Iraola aims to add a versatile creative midfielder.
Jose Mourinho is widely expected to be installed as the new head coach of Real Madrid next season, leaving Guler’s role uncertain. It remains to be seen what role he will assign to the FIFA World Cup star.
