Liverpool, man United chase Juventus midfielder Thuram

Liverpool and Manchester United are monitoring Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram, with a potential transfer fee reported between £43 million and £48 million as Juventus’s financial situation evolves. Both clubs assess the situation amid Liverpool’s midfield uncertainty, where Alexis Mac Allister remains under contract until 2028 and Curtis Jones could leave for around £26 million in 2027. Andoni Iraola requires a midfielder with power, mobility and ball‑winning ability to match the Premier League’s physical rhythm. Khephren Thuram’s profile, described as athletic and capable of covering ground, aligns with those requirements. Turkish clubs Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have both shown strong interest in the 25‑year‑old French midfielder, the report quoted: "Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have both shown strong interest in the 25-year-old French midfielder." It added that Thuram gave a negative response to both Turkish giants, quoting him: "Thuram gave a negative response to both Turkish giants." Nottingham Forest have launched preliminary contacts with Juventus in recent hours. The report added that "Manchester United and Liverpool form the real heavyweights of this race." Thuram joined Juventus from Nice in 2024 and is contracted until 2029, limiting Juventus’s contractual leverage. Juventus expect a fee in the region of €50 million to €55 million, a valuation that would place the player in Liverpool’s £43‑48 million target range. Liverpool, under Richard Hughes, will assess the market patiently, especially if Juventus becomes a motivated seller. The report stated that "Liverpool are considering Thuram as a direct replacement for Curtis Jones and are monitoring the situation closely." Should Curtis Jones depart for an estimated £26 million, Liverpool could move from monitoring Thuram to prioritising his acquisition. The club must weigh the tactical upgrade against the financial outlay, with Manchester United also vying for the midfielder.
