Liverpool Target Cologne Forward Said El Mala Valued at €50m

Liverpool have entered the race to sign 19‑year‑old Cologne forward Said El Mala, who recorded 13 goals and five assists in 34 Bundesliga appearances during the 2025/26 season. The teenager’s breakthrough has sparked Premier League interest and earned him a maiden call‑up to the German national team. Brighton were initially ahead in the pursuit, but several approaches were rebuffed by Cologne. The German club has placed a price tag of around €50 million on El Mala. El Mala and his family rejected a potential move to Brentford, keeping the door open for other suitors. Borussia Dortmund have floated an offer of €35 million together with two loan deals, one involving 20‑year‑old Almugera Kabar and purchase options, yet Cologne remain firm on their valuation. Ben Jacobs reported that Liverpool have added El Mala to their shortlist. Manager Andoni Iraola sees the German forward as an alternative should his chase for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande encounter obstacles. El Mala has returned from a vacation in Greece and begun fitness training. There are currently no offers on the table, and no further discussions with his representatives are anticipated.
