Liverpool target South Korean defender Lee Han-beom
Liverpool are in the mix to sign 23‑year‑old South Korean centre‑back Lee Han-beom. Lee currently plays for FC Midtjylland and has one year left on his contract. Scouts have praised his ball‑playing ability and tactical adaptability after his performance in South Korea's World Cup opening game.
Michael Edwards returned to Liverpool as FSG's Head of Football Operations. Since his return he has overseen the club's rebuild and the significant investment made in the squad last summer. The transfer window saw the club target a number of highly‑rated young players.
Among the new arrivals, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike have shown encouraging signs. However, the overall squad overhaul has not fully come together yet. The age profile of many signings means fans are expected to remain patient.
Edwards is renowned for a brilliant recruitment track record and is known for making smart decisions. Past signings that exemplify his approach include Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Andy Robertson. The decision to sign Salah over Julian Brandt and Jota over Timo Werner illustrates his preference for under‑the‑radar talent. Firmino arrived from Hoffenheim and Robertson from Hull City. The multi‑club model that was once discussed alongside Manchester City and Chelsea now appears dormant, and Edwards' contract runs until 2027.
Edwards will continue to work with Richard Hughes in the next phase of the rebuild. The plan includes the arrival of Yan Diomande and additional signings to provide depth for the Premier League and Champions League under manager Andoni Iraola. The focus remains on strengthening Liverpool both on and off the pitch ahead of a massive summer.
