Manchester City eyes €150m Elliot Anderson move
Manchester City are preparing a €150 million offer for 23‑year‑old midfielder Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest, a fee that would break the Premier League transfer record. The English international, currently featuring in the 2026 World Cup, could become the most expensive player in the league's history.
Anderson joined Nottingham Forest two years ago from Newcastle for a reported €41 million fee. Since arriving, he has secured a regular starting position in the Forest midfield.
His rapid development earned him a call‑up to the England national team. He is currently playing in the 2026 World Cup, staged across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Manchester City have not abandoned the pursuit and intend to restart negotiations with Nottingham Forest within hours. Enzo Maresca, the new coach of Jérémie Doku, is reported to be involved in the talks.
Nottingham Forest have turned down two concrete offers, the latest rising to €139 million. The club insists on a record sum to release the 23‑year‑old talent.
A €150 million payment would place Anderson ahead of Alexander Isak’s €145 million transfer to Liverpool and Declan Rice’s €120 million move. Both players currently hold the previous Premier League record fees.
Internationally, Anderson impressed against Croatia but found it harder to influence the game against Ghana, which ended in a 0‑0 draw on Monday night. The midfielder’s performance remains under scrutiny as England seek qualification.
England must secure a victory over Panama on 27 June to guarantee progression, with both England and Ghana sitting on four points. The outcome will determine which nation avoids a challenging round of 16 opponents.
