Manchester City Near Deal for Atalanta Right-Back Marco Palestra
Atalanta right-back Marco Palestra has reached a financial agreement with Premier League club Manchester City. The deal still requires a club‑to‑club agreement and a decision from Atalanta.
Palestra, 21, is an Italian international full‑back who completed a loan at Cagliari. He made 37 Serie A appearances and was named Serie A Best Defender of the season.
Manchester City’s summer transfer agenda includes securing a modern full‑back, with Matheus Nunes identified as a potential partner in the position. The club is also reported to be pursuing Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson in a possible British‑record deal. Head coach Enzo Maresca believes Palestra’s versatility matches his tactical outlook.
Serie A champions Inter continue to chase Palestra, viewing him as a priority after Real Madrid signed Denzel Dumfries, leaving a vacancy on Inter’s right flank. Inter’s executives remain in internal talks over a suitable financial package.
Atalanta has set a valuation of €50 million plus €5 million in bonuses for Palestra and remains firm on that figure. Manchester City’s resources are reported to be capable of meeting the valuation.
Sporting director Hugo Viana is determined to finalise the signing as the summer transfer window opens this month. A successful agreement would give City an elite right‑back alongside Matheus Nunes.
