Manchester City pushes for Elliot Anderson after Forest bid rejection

Manchester City will try to close a deal for Elliot Anderson after Nottingham Forest rejected the club’s opening bid. England manager Thomas Tuchel has allowed Anderson to undergo a Manchester City medical during the FIFA World Cup in North America. Anderson, a former Newcastle United midfielder, is the 23‑year‑old England international. Forest is holding out for a fee in the region of £100 million for the midfielder. City’s opening bid was launched earlier this week and was turned down, but the club says it will not walk away and is assessing alternatives such as Sandro Tonali. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano said City is pushing to close the Anderson deal quickly. Anderson has indicated his preference to join Manchester City despite interest from Manchester United. The Blues aim to finalize the signing before pre‑season begins in July. Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is handling the negotiations personally. Reports have cited a Forest demand as high as £125 million while City values the deal closer to £80 million, leaving a substantial gap to bridge. Director of football Hugo Viana and incoming manager Enzo Maresca have identified Anderson as the ideal box‑to‑box midfielder to replace Bernardo Silva. Should the Forest pursuit prove insurmountable, City have scouted Sandro Tonali as an alternative signing.
