Manchester United Could Save £15.9m If Amorim Joins AC Milan

Ruben Amorim is emerging as the leading candidate for the vacant AC Milan managerial position, a move that could reduce Manchester United's compensation costs. The potential appointment would save United the £15.9 million they are currently paying for Amorim's departure and the exits of four members of his coaching staff after his January dismissal. Manchester United have been covering £15.9 million in compensation for Amorim and his four staff members since his sacking in January. Those payments would be significantly reduced if AC Milan appoint Amorim. Amorim's record at Manchester United includes a 32 percent win ratio, 1.53 goals conceded per game and a 15 percent clean‑sheet ratio. Those figures fell short of Old Trafford's expectations. Before arriving in England, Amorim achieved two league titles and three Portuguese Cup triumphs with Sporting Lisbon, establishing a strong reputation in Europe. His success at Sporting Lisbon remains a key part of his résumé. AC Milan previously considered other candidates, including Andoni Iraola before he accepted Liverpool's offer, and former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner. Amorim's long‑term body of work appears to have set him apart from those rivals. Manchester United are targeting several midfield signings this summer and are also pursuing a player from Atalanta. Reducing the compensation liability would free resources for those transfer plans.
