Manchester United Keep Rashford Options Open as Barcelona Declines Buyout

Barcelona will not trigger the €30 million purchase option for Marcus Rashford as the deadline expires on 15 June, and Manchester United have left the door open for his return. Rashford arrived on a season-long loan ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and revived his form at the Spotify Camp Nou, becoming an important player for Hansi Flick with impressive goal contributions. The signing of Anthony Gordon has reduced Barcelona's urgency for a left‑winger, and the club cited salary considerations and a greater need for a centre‑forward as reasons for passing on a permanent deal. Manchester United's new permanent manager Michael Carrick has spoken with Rashford about staying at Old Trafford, and the forward remains under contract with United until 2028, giving the English club control over his future. Bayern Munich showed interest earlier, but that interest has cooled. Unless an unexpected twist occurs, Rashford's loan is set to conclude without a permanent transfer, and Barcelona appear ready to pursue a different direction.
