Manchester United release Jadon Sancho, Casemiro and Malacia
Manchester United have released Jadon Sancho, Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia, all departing on free transfers after the club chose not to extend their contracts.
Sancho’s £73m contract was not renewed, leaving the England winger free after a five‑year spell; he made 83 appearances, 12 goals and six assists, and spent the last two‑and‑a‑half seasons on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa.
Sancho’s only appearance for United since August 2023 came in the 2024 Community Shield; his Premier League last game was three years ago, after a dispute with Erik ten Hag that saw the manager drop him for an Arsenal match and ban him from first‑team training.
While on loan, Sancho featured in European finals with Dortmund in the Champions League and with Chelsea and Villa in the Conference League, winning the latter two; Chelsea triggered a £5m penalty clause to avoid a permanent deal, and Villa are not expected to purchase him after nine league starts under Unai Emery.
Dortmund have indicated interest in signing Sancho again; Casemiro, who joined United from Real Madrid for £63m, confirmed his exit after four seasons and 26 goals in 160 games; Malacia, signed for £12m, recorded 11 appearances in his last three seasons following 39 in his debut year.
