Manchester United Target Newcastle Midfielder Sandro Tonali
Manchester United are reported to be in pole position to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali. The report said manager Michael Carrick is leading the pursuit.
Tonali featured in 53 matches for Newcastle United last season, scoring three goals and providing seven assists across all competitions. The 26‑year‑old was described as one of the Premier League’s best central midfielders.
Tonali’s contract with Newcastle United runs until the summer of 2028, which could limit United’s ability to acquire him cheaply. A photograph by Stu Forster shows Tonali arriving at St. James’ Park ahead of a match against West Ham United.
Tonali is a defensive midfielder who can also operate as a box‑to‑box player, according to the report. Eddie Howe’s side benefited from his tackling and passing, and Carrick could rely on him to strengthen the midfield at Old Trafford and aid United’s trophy ambitions.
